Well, I just got to go see the Book of Life with my family. It was great! We got to see it in 3D, too, so the colors and light really popped! When I saw the trailers, I was hooked. Instantly. Going to a movie can get expensive, so we don't always get to see them in the theaters. Anyway, on to the details.Characters:
I fell in love with all the characters. They're all very unique, though surely Le Muerte and Zibalba are the most interesting. I really like Manolo, Joaquin, and Maria, which is good, because sometimes I don't like the main characters much. Everyone's designs were great, of course. Zibalba's super hard to draw though. Story:
I'm not great at picking apart a story (unlike my dad), but I really, really liked it. Some movies feel kind of rushed or disjointed, but not this one. The romance is really sweet, and I would say more, but, well, that would include a lot of spoilers.Animation:
The animation is GORGEOUS. Everything is so colorful, especially in the Land of the Remembered, which is a literal explosion of color and light. It's looks great in 3D! Gah, I just... what else can I say? It's gorgeous! Remember that Thomas guy I talked about? The one who was an Apprentice Lighter for Wreck-It Ralph? Well, he was an Assistant Lighter for this! Got any questions for him? I'll be seeing him at church tomorrow.Music:
I didn't expect it, but Manolo (guitar guy) sings in the movie. It's always a little weird the first time they break into song, but I really liked the songs in this movie. The score is also great, but I can't find any of it online! Guess I have to wait a week or two. My favorite song is I Love You Too Much, which is not only really sweet, but it's musically done really well. Listen to it!
Minnow and Corbin have a theme song now!
After all is said, I've a got a new favorite movie! I really didn't think I'd like it this much. The voice actors are great, the characters are great, the story is great, the music is great, and the animation is beautiful! I recommend it! If you have the money, go see it in 3D at least once!
I'm hoping I can see it again before it leaves theaters.
EDIT: Turns out I'm the only one who really liked it. My dad can dissect any movie, my mom was bored, my youngest brother gave me an angry 'meh,' and my other brother only liked the fight scenes!
There's probably a bunch I forgot to say, but oh well.
